WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- Spurred by significant growth in deployment and consumer demand for its fiber-optic-based Internet and TV services in Chester County, Verizon has opened a new work center in West Goshen to serve customers in the West Chester-Exton area.

The center, located at 511 S. Bolmar St., is an adjunct to the company's existing work center at 966 S. Matlack St. in West Chester.  It will house 66 employees, including 60 technicians who install and maintain Verizon FiOS Internet, FiOS TV and voice services in the area.

"The Matlack Street work center was bursting at the seams as our newly hired technicians finished their training at the Verizon Training Academy in Norristown," said Scott Bieler, Verizon's local customer operations manager.  "We have hired a total of 76 new technicians in West Chester due to rapidly growing consumer interest in Verizon's FiOS services."

Eighty-eight Verizon employees remain at 966 S. Matlack St.

Verizon delivers FiOS services on the nation's most advanced digital, all-fiber-optic network.  Only this network has earned the certification of the independent Fiber to the Home Council for providing fiber all the way to customers' homes.

Since Verizon launched FiOS TV service last December in southeastern Pennsylvania, more than 182,000 households in parts of 70 communities in Chester, Montgomery, Bucks and Delaware counties can choose FiOS TV for their information and entertainment needs.

"This all-fiber-optic upgrade is a complete transformation of Verizon's communications network," said Bieler.  "Our all-fiber network offers consumers the very best services: super-fast Internet speeds, superior TV and crystal-clear voice, all at competitive prices with Verizon's unmatched customer service."

The value of FiOS services extends to the installation and customer support.  Verizon's specially trained technicians will install the service and acquaint subscribers with FiOS Internet and TV features and services.
