NYNEX Demos High Speed ISDN Access At Internet Home Show

- An Internet "Taste Test" at the Javits Center
-

New York, NY -- NYNEX announced today that it will conduct an
"Internet taste test" at this weekend's Internet Home
Show in New York City.

The test will give those attending the show the opportunity to
compare -- side-by-side -- high speed access to the Internet using
ISDN to that of conventional analog modems.

Using two large-screen monitors and a laptop PC, NYNEX will illustrate
the speed, flexibility, and value of
NYNEX ISDN service.

NYNEX and its authorized sales agents will be available at booth
#101 at the Jacob Javits Center beginning Friday, February 2,
and throughout the weekend to offer expert guidance on purchasing
ISDN, as well as information about the hardware and software needed
to access the Internet and World Wide Web.

"NYNEX's ISDN service sets the Internet on fire," said
Gerry Lenaghan, NYNEX ISDN Product Manager. "ISDN offers
speeds up to ten times faster than conventional modems."

"NYNEX ISDN service provides a dedicated connection to the
Internet. Unlike cable modems being tested by some cable television
companies, ISDN is widely available today and offers the flexibility
to transmit voice, data, fax and video over a single telephone
line," said Lenaghan. "That makes it an ideal solution
for Internet surfers, telecommuters, or anyone in search of greater
speed and bandwidth."

A single NYNEX ISDN line can serve as many as eight devices, including
telephones, fax machines, and desktop computers. With ISDN, each
can be assigned its own telephone number, so that incoming calls
can be routed directly to the appropriate device.

NYNEX recently announced plans to deploy some one million ISDN
lines by the year 2000 and to make its entire network ISDN capable
by 1997. The company ended 1995 with some 90,000 ISDN lines in
service across its region.

NYNEX is working with several telecommunications providers to
help develop standard ISDN codes that can be easily identified
by customers.
