NYNEX Introduces New Call Management Services in New York City Area

Name And Phone Number Identification Helps Customers Manage Incoming Calls

NEW YORK, NY -- Beginning April 15, 1996, NYNEX will introduce a new version of
its Caller ID* service that displays the name as well as the number associated with
an incoming call.

Caller ID With Name is one of five new products NYNEX is introducing under its
NYNEX PhoneSmart Services product line in Queens, Brooklyn, Staten
Island, the Bronx and northern Manhattan. These products will be made available
throughout NYNEX's New York State service area during 1996.

Caller ID With Name is priced at $7.50 a month for residential customers,
$1 per month more than regular Caller ID, which provides the calling-party
number only.

The other new services being introduced along with Caller ID With
Name include:

  • Call Manager, which integrates Caller ID and Call
    Waiting, and allows customers who are on the phone to:

      --Forward an incoming call to Call Answering (NYNEX Call Answering or a
      comparable service is required);

      --Bridge the incoming call into the current conversation (separate conference service is not required);

      --Route the call to a network "please hold" message;

      --Route the call to a network "please call back" message;

      --Answer the new call.

  • Call Manager With Name, which allows customers who are on the phone to see
    the name and number associated with the incoming call and use all of the call
    management features available with Call Manager.

  • Call Waiting ID, which allows Call Waiting customers to receive Caller ID information (number only)
    for a new incoming call.

  • Call Waiting ID With Name, which allows Call Waiting customers to receive the
    phone number and name associated with a new
    incoming call.

    Customers who want to prevent Caller ID With Name from displaying their
    name and number can use one of two options.

    Per Call Blocking*, which prevents
    the display of both a caller's name and number for a single call by dialing *67
    (or 1167 on a rotary telephone) before placing the call, is provided
    automatically at no charge to all customers in areas where PhoneSmart features
    are available.

    All Call Blocking*, also available at no charge, prevents
    the display of a caller's name and number automatically. All Call Blocking
    customers can allow their name and number to be displayed by dialing *82 (1182
    rotary) before the phone number. There may be a one-time $5.00 fee charged to
    customers who switch between Per Call and All Call Blocking options.

To speak with a NYNEX authorized sales agent about these new services, residence
customers can call 1-800-581-3581, operator 22.

*Caller ID is marketed as Call ID in New York, pending New York Public Service
Commission approval to change the name to Caller ID. Per Call Blocking and All
Call Blocking are offered as Per Call Restrict and All Call Restrict in New York,
pending New York Public Service Commission approval to change the names to Per
Call Blocking and All Call Blocking.
