BASKING RIDGE, N.J. - Verizon Business is helping Standard Register, a leading global document-services provider, upgrade and consolidate its networks to enhance productivity, reduce operating expenses, and make more efficient use of information technology resources. The integrated network will lay the foundation for Standard Register's unified communications strategy, enabling it to link its devices, applications, networks and operating systems to act as one and advance communications capabilities.

Under a three-year, $6 million agreement that extends the company's longtime relationship with Standard Register, Verizon Business will act as its single-source provider for communication services, including professional design, implementation and management of Private IP, Verizon Business' MPLS network service; Internet Dedicated; and Secure Gateway Retail and Remote Office.

This new consolidated IP network will link 3,400 Standard Register employees across the U.S., Mexico and Canada, and multiple, geographically dispersed sites.

Specifically, Verizon Business will implement a Managed IP PBX infrastructure that will integrate advanced telephony and presence functions with Standard Register's wide- and local-area networks so that users can seamlessly control communications functions such as consolidating voice mail from multiple devices, and accessing voice mail online.

"Unified communications [UC] will transform the way Standard Register communicates internally and moves information around the company," said Joanne Cummins, vice president of technology, Standard Register.  "UC will enhance communications among our diverse workforce, and advance our collaboration and communications with our customers."

Stephen P. Young, group president of corporate and government markets for Verizon Business, said, "Reliable and secure transmission of mission-critical data is a linchpin of Standard Register's business success. Our extensive and highly reliable global network - coupled with leading-edge IT capabilities and professional services expertise - makes us the perfect technology partner."

Standard Register primarily serves customers in the financial services, health care and manufacturing sectors, providing clients with the documents essential to running their businesses every day.

Standard Register's use of IP technologies will also help the company accomplish more of its energy conservation and environmental protection goals.  The technologies lay the foundation for implementing voice over IP for Standard Register's virtual and mobile workforce and for future initiatives such as advanced video conferencing.

Verizon Business is a recognized leader in delivering advanced communications and information technology (IT) services for large-business customers around the world.  The company was recently recognized with a 2008 North American Frost & Sullivan Product Line Strategy Award for hosted IP telephony and voice-over-IP access services.
