CLARKSBURG, W.Va. - Verizon today announced that it is adding 32 jobs at its newly renovated Clarksburg customer service center, which provides support for residential customers in West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
Clarksburg Mayor Sam Lopez, Vice Mayor Margaret Bailey, City Manager Martin Howe, representatives from the Clarksburg City Council and the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce, and Dot Underwood, the governor's regional representative, joined Verizon officials at the announcement ceremony, held at the center at 425 Holden St.
"This center is recognized, with Verizon, for superb performance - that's what creates an expansion opportunity like this," said H. Stan Cavendish, president of Verizon West Virginia. "The investment we're making in Clarksburg underscores our commitment to the area, as well as to our customers."
Verizon has completed significant upgrades to its Holden St. facility, equipping it with the latest technology and installing new workstations, furniture and carpeting. The upgrades provide the center's service consultants with the tools needed to improve service for the Verizon customers the center serves across its multi-state region. The center hired 16 new employees in December and plans to hire 16 more as soon as possible.
"I am very pleased that Verizon decided to remodel its facility and expand jobs here in Clarksburg," said Howe, the city manager. "The jobs Verizon has created in Clarksburg will boost the region's economy and offer excellent employment opportunities for Clarksburg area workers."
The jobs at the center are full-time positions, with pay ranging from $12 an hour to $24.70 an hour. The jobs also include an excellent benefits package, with medical, dental, vision and a 401(K) savings plan.
