AUSTIN, Texas - Visitors to the ScreenBurn independent film festival here this weekend can test their online gaming skills against some of the world's top female online gamers at the Verizon FiOS booth in the ScreenBurn Arcade.  Located in the Austin Convention Center, the gaming arcade is free and open to the public on March 10 and 11 from noon to 6 p.m.

Some of the top women gamers in the country - members of the PMS Clan - will take on all opponents at the Verizon FiOS booth (Booth S1) and sell raffle tickets to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas.  PMS Clan is the first and largest multiplatform female gaming group.

Verizon also will demonstrate its free, revolutionary online gaming service, PlayLinc, which gives gamers all the tools they need to effortlessly connect, communicate and have more fun playing online.

"No one has more fun than we do at a gaming event," said Amber Dalton, founder and leader of PMS Clan.  "People love challenging us to a game, and we enjoy competing and helping gamers to sharpen their skills.  Plus it's all for a good cause.  We hope everyone comes to see us at the Verizon FiOS booth."

Jason Henderson, games manager for Verizon, said, "We're excited about joining with this fantastic group of female gamers at the ScreenBurn Arcade to support Big Brothers Big Sisters. We can't wait to also show gamers how Verizon's ultra-fast FiOS Internet service and PlayLinc make gaming easier and more enjoyable."

Verizon is providing FiOS voice, video and data services on the nation's most advanced digital all-fiber-optic network.  With download speeds ranging 5 to 50 Mbps (megabits per second) and upload speeds ranging from 2 to 10 Mbps, FiOS Internet service gives online gamers the speed they need to compete and to enjoy gaming with "less lag and more frag."  FiOS TV delivers hundreds of digital video and music channels, over two dozen high-definition channels and 8,600 video on-demand titles, all with unsurpassed clarity.

Verizon PlayLinc provides online gamers with a single, easy-to-use interface and all the tools they need for a superior playing experience, including the ability for gamers to launch their own servers for free, true server-based voice capabilities for up to 32 players; seamless integration of America Online's AIM® messaging service; in-game and on-game chat; and Internet browsing, buddy tracking, team management and other tools. PlayLinc supports both PC and console games and allows players to host any LAN-enabled multiplayer game on a virtual LAN.

PlayLinc can be used with any broadband connection, but customers of Verizon's fiber-based FiOS Internet Service will benefit from the power of a super-high-speed fiber connection directly into their homes.

Jason Baker of leading e-sports online news site GotFrag gives PlayLinc a rave review, writing, "This has to be the most useful product for gamers since the invention of the mouse."  He added, "PlayLinc is the perfect solution for gamers wanting to control their game experience without paying a lot of money for game servers and voice servers.  It is easy to use and built by guys who have set the standard for back-end server software in the gaming industry."  For Baker's complete review, visit http://exe.gotfrag.com/portal/story/33785/.
