NEW YORK - Verizon on Wednesday (Jan. 7) introduced new promotional offers for triple- and double-play bundles for new High Speed Internet (HSI) and DIRECTV customers.

The new offers, effective immediately, provide great choices for customers, enabling them to get the High Speed Internet speed they need, along with Verizon Freedom unlimited nationwide (local and long-distance) calling services and DIRECTV video service provided through Verizon.  Verizon Freedom calling services also include unlimited calls to Canada and Puerto Rico.

"Our voice, Internet and video bundles are already a great buy for consumers, and we have added even more value," said Susan Retta, Verizon vice president for consumer product management. "We've bundled together our most compelling services and made budgeting for 2009 much simpler with our value-oriented offers."

Verizon's triple-play bundles start at $79.99 a month for 12 months, featuring up to 1 megabits per second (Mbps) Internet access.  Verizon's double-play bundles start at just $49.99 a month for 12 months.

In addition to unlimited nationwide voice service, some of the bundles feature caller ID, voice mail and call-waiting services and up to 3 Mbps or up to 7.1 Mbps High Speed Internet service where offered.

Through Feb. 21, if new customers order an upgraded bundle with either the up to 3 Mbps or the up to 7.1 Mbps High Speed Internet service, they will receive a special discount of up to $30 a month for the first three months.

[Note: Verizon also announced a lifetime-guaranteed High Speed Internet price and the expanded availability of its up to 7.1 Mbps High Speed Internet service.  See the related news release at www.verizon.com/newscenter.]

Independent national ratings of Internet service put Verizon High Speed Internet near the top, and DIRECTV, part of the Verizon bundle, is also consistently recognized for excellent service.

Verizon's fastest tier of High Speed Internet service, based on digital subscriber line technology, delivers speeds of up to 7.1 Mbps and allows Internet users to download information at speeds 125 times faster than a 56 kilobits-per-second dial-up modem.  The up to 3 Mbps service delivers download speeds 50 times faster than dial-up.
