Verizon Business and Akamai Technologies have boosted the security and performance of the official Web site for the 5th Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games that are taking place in Hong Kong Dec. 5-13.
Visitors to the Web site will now have access to on-demand downloads, in near-real time, of an array of interactive content such as game results, highlighted photos and schedules. Thanks to the Verizon and Akamai solution, download speeds are twice as fast.
The East Asian Games, held every four years, is a major event on the Asian sporting scene. At this year's event some 2,300 elite athletes are competing for 262 gold medals in 22 sports and 1,700 competitive events.
