Verizon's ultra-fast FiOS Internet Service - which delivers downstream speeds of up to 50 Mbps* (megabits per second) and upstream speeds of up to 20 Mbps over the company's superior all-fiber optic network - now is available to more than 5,000 consumers in parts of Lebanon.

"Verizon FiOS Internet is the fastest two-way broadband service available, period," said Mary Yarbrough, vice president of marketing and sales operations for Verizon's Mid-Atlantic region. "The speed and capacity of Verizon's fiber-optic network for both receiving and sending information beats old-fashioned cable hands down for anything you need to do online."

Verizon delivers FiOS Internet over the nation's most advanced, all-digital, fiber-optic network straight to customers' doors.  As a result, Verizon can offer some of the fastest upload and download broadband speeds available today.

"Unlike cable companies, Verizon can offer downstream and upstream broadband speeds that people want and increasingly need for today's data-intensive, online applications," said Yarbrough.  "Verizon's FiOS Internet service redefines what fast broadband means with its unmatched speeds and reliability."

Yarbrough noted that consumers and businesses are relying more on faster upstream broadband connections for everything from Web surfing, shopping and e-mail to more broadband-intensive activities like photo sharing, downloading digital movies and music purchased online, multi-player online gaming, building Web pages, blogging, and video conferencing.

New customers can order FiOS Internet service as a stand-alone service or bundle it with a Verizon Freedom Essentials calling plan for additional savings.  Plans for existing Verizon home phone customers start at $49.99 per month for up to 15 Mbps download/up to 5 Mbps upload service with a one-year agreement.

Residential customers can determine whether they can order FiOS Internet service by calling 888-GET FIOS (888-438-3467) or visiting www.verizon.com/fios.  Small businesses can contact their local Verizon business office or account manager to determine if they qualify for FiOS Internet Service for Business.

In addition, free Verizon Wi-Fi access at thousands of locations across the U.S. is available for FiOS Internet customers with up to 25 Mbps-or faster packages.**  Free Wi-Fi hot-spot locations include hotels, airports, restaurants, coffee shops, retailers and other public locations across the U.S.  For a list of hot-spot locations, visit www.verizon.com/hotspots.

Verizon FiOS customers also have access to the Verizon In-Home Agent, a free application that gives them valuable tools to set up services, configure Wi-Fi links, set up and manage voice mail, auto-fix video problems, and trouble-shoot and correct Internet issues - all with the simple click of a mouse.

Verizon's consumer broadband services - Verizon FiOS Internet and Verizon High Speed Internet (HSI) - outperform all their competitors when it comes to overall customer satisfaction in the East, according to the J.D. Power and Associates "2009 Internet Service Provider (ISP) Residential Customer Satisfaction Study"SM released Oct. 28.

Verizon's advanced FiOS Internet and its digital-subscriber-line (DSL)-based HSI service outscored 10 providers measured in the East region of the ISP study - including all cable providers - in overall satisfaction and four factors:  performance and reliability, cost of service, offerings and promotions, and billing.

*  Internet speeds refer to the connection speed between the user's location and Verizon's central office.  Actual surfing speeds will vary based on many factors and be lower than connection speed.

** Verizon Wi-Fi available with select packages and in designated locations only. Software limitations and other terms apply.
