PITTSBURGH - In celebration of the pride of Pittsburgh, Verizon is featuring photos of the changing landscape of Pittsburgh - PNC Park and the city's skyline - for the covers of the 2001-2002 SuperPages telephone directories. The new PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates, is shown on the yellow pages, and Pittsburgh's dramatic nighttime skyline is depicted on the white pages. Verizon is currently distributing more than 1.7 million SuperPages directories - white and yellow pages - in Greater Pittsburgh.

"Knowing that the residents of the Greater Pittsburgh area love their sports teams and are committed to their great city, we chose two photos to portray that pride - PNC Park and the distinctive Pittsburgh skyline," said Pat Marshall, group vice president - marketing, Verizon Information Services. "In addition, we're introducing a 'Senior Reference' guide of local services in the government blue pages section of the Greater Pittsburgh White Pages."

The Senior Reference, a list of widely used services printed in large type, is the result of a combined effort by Verizon and the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General with input from local senior citizens. The listings are under 14 categories, ranging from consumer protection to financial assistance to medical treatment/self help/support groups.

Greater Pittsburgh SuperPages features an Inside Look® Community Magazine, which showcases area attractions, entertainment, recreation and community services. The magazine also includes transportation contact information and city, transit and surrounding area maps for Pittsburgh.

"Verizon is proud to be a long-term member of the Greater Pittsburgh community," said Marshall. "In support of this local commitment, Verizon has contributed nearly $100,000 over the past five years to Beginning with Books®, which sponsors successful literacy programs serving low-income children and families in the Greater Pittsburgh area."

In addition to finding local listings in the Greater Pittsburgh SuperPages, area residents can log on to Verizon SuperPages.com (www.superpages.com), the Internet's leading online directory and shopping resource, for millions of local and national business listings. In support of both SuperPages.com and the printed SuperPages, the Greater Pittsburgh yellow pages includes the Verizon Internet Guide, a road map to the information superhighway - complete with Internet searching tips, unique Web sites and Internet-related businesses.
