NEW YORK - Verizon Long Distance has launched its first bulk-rate long-distance plan for New York customers. The new TalkTimesm plan offers rates as low as 7.8 cents per- minute with no hidden fees or surcharges.

"TalkTime is a great choice for heavy long-distance users who want to know exactly how much their long-distance bill will be each month," said Maura Breen, group president - Verizon Long Distance. "It will appeal to New Yorkers because what you see is what you get. TalkTime builds on Verizon's commitment to offer simple, 'surprise-free' long-distance service."

TalkTime offers consumers a choice of packages --

  • 180 minutes for $15 a month
  • 300 minutes for $24 a month
  • 500 minutes for $39

These TalkTime rates are for state-to-state and in-state, direct dialed long-distance calls. The plan rates range from 8.3 to 7.8 cents per-minute. Minutes remaining at the end of the month do not carry over to the next month. Customers who use more minutes than they purchased under the selected plan can keep talking for an additional charge of 8, 12 or 15 cents per-minute, depending on the calling plan. Calling card rates are 35 cents per-minute, among the lowest in the industry, and there's no per-call surcharge.

In addition to TalkTime, New Yorkers can choose from several other Verizon long- distance plans. All the plans are straightforward, with no minimum monthly charges.
