Fortune magazine has ranked Verizon No. 1 in the telecommunications sector of the publication's 2012 list of the World's Most Admired Companies.
Verizon received the top ranking in six out of nine reputation categories: Innovation, People Management, Use of Corporate Assets, Quality of Management, Long-Term Investment and Quality of Products/Services. Fortune's Most Admired Companies list is based on surveys of executives, directors and analysts who were asked to rate companies in their own industry.
"As we bring the awesome power of our superior networks and technologies to people around the world, we work hard every day to be a positive force for our customers and society," said Tom Tauke, executive vice president - public affairs, policy and communications at Verizon. "It's especially pleasing to note that our efforts have made an impact with our peers and competitors, and we're honored by this recognition."
