GREENVILLE, SC - Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless communications provider, today announced that its advanced digital wireless service is now available in Florence, Lee, Sumter, Clarendon, and Williamsburg counties.

"With this significant digital expansion into eastern South Carolina, Verizon Wireless has positioned itself as the wireless carrier with the largest digital coverage in the area. This means more customers will have access to our high quality digital network and attractive product and pricing options," said Jerry Fountain, Verizon Wireless' regional president - Carolinas.

Customers in these counties can now take advantage of Verizon Wireless' popular SingleRateSM local, regional and national calling plans. Each digital-calling plan includes a variety of convenient features such as Caller ID, Voice Mail, Call Forwarding, Call Waiting, 3-Way Calling, and No Answer Transfer. The new digital service also offers improved call quality, enhanced security, and longer battery life.

Digital users in the five-county area can also benefit from Verizon Wireless' Mobile Web service that is designed to meet each user's specific Internet information needs. Mobile Web can be added to select Verizon Wireless' digital calling plans for $6.95 per month. From their wireless handset, customers get access to a range of personalized World Wide Web information including news, sports, weather, financial information and online trading, travel updates and entertainment news. They can even shop online and check e-mail on the go with Mobile Web.
