Verizon Wireless Expands Service Coverage In New Rochelle And Buchanan
January 21, 2002
Verizon Wireless has expanded service coverage in Westchester County with a new cell site in New Rochelle and one in Buchanan.
"The new cell sites will provide customers who live in and travel through these areas with greater wireless network coverage and increased clarity when making wireless calls," said Heidi Hemmer, Verizon Wireless Director of Engineering in metropolitan New York.
The site in New Rochelle improves service on the Hutchinson River Parkway and Country Club Road.
The Buchanan site enhances wireless calling along the Hudson on Route 9, Route 9A and Bear Mountain State Parkway.
The new sites are part of a $4 billion investment program in 2001 to improve and extend the reach of the Verizon Wireless nationwide network, the largest in the U.S. More than $300 million of that investment was used to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in the New York Metro area.
