Deluxe? Detail? Verizon Wireless? San Diego residents can now ask for a wireless phone to go with their car's wash and wax. Verizon Wireless, San Diego's largest wireless carrier, opened retail kiosks this month at car wash locations in Carmel Valley and Encinitas, enabling customers to check out the latest cellular phones, wireless voice, data and messaging services, and hands-free calling accessories while they wait.

Located at Acacia Car Washes at Shell stations on 3861 Valley Center Drive, San Diego and 1060 N. El Camino Real, Encinitas, the kiosks offer a variety of handsets by Audiovox, Kyocera, Motorola, and Nokia starting from $19.99 to $49.99 with new service activation and a one-year contract on select calling plans.
"Our customer base is rapidly expanding in San Diego and it makes sense for Verizon Wireless to provide the latest wireless products and services at convenient, accessible locations, where customers typically have 15 minutes to browse," said Mike Finley, regional president, Verizon Wireless.

Encouraging new wireless phone users exiting the car wash to drive responsibly, Verizon Wireless' kiosks also are offering a 10 percent discount on the company's most popular hands-free device, the Plantronics 175 headset ($39.99). Verizon Wireless' universal headsets for hands-free talking start at $14.99, and are also available at all company retail stores and kiosks.

The new kiosks are open seven days a week. Hours of operation will vary depending on daylight hours and weather conditions.

Verizon Wireless now owns and operates 14 retail stores, kiosks and carts throughout San Diego, which offer a premier line of digital wireless phones, data products and accessories. Recent store openings include Del Mar (Feb. 15) located at 2683 Via De La Valle, Suite L, and Stonecrest (Mar. 7) located at 3737 Murphy Canyon Rd.
