October 31, 2001
As part of its aggressive retail expansion plan for Chicagoland, Verizon Wireless will officially open two more new communications stores this weekend at 138 E. Rand Road in Arlington Heights and 1 W. Rand Road in Mount Prospect.
By year-end, Verizon Wireless will have opened 21 new retail locations throughout Chicagoland in 2001. The company now has a total of 39 stores and kiosks in the area, employing more than 300 people.
The nation's largest wireless communications provider will host a "Grand Opening Celebration" from November 2-4 at the new locations. The weekend will be highlighted by "wire cutting" ceremonies at both stores at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 3.
"Our new stores make it easier to do business with Verizon Wireless if you live in the Arlington Heights or Mount Prospect areas," said Tracy Nolan, president of Verizon Wireless' Illinois/Wisconsin Region. "We have a rapidly expanding customer base in the area and it's imperative that we provide people who live there with increased convenience and accessibility to our products and services."
To underscore its commitment to the communities it serves, Verizon Wireless will mark the grand opening celebration with donations of $500 each to Life Span and the Children's Advocacy Center to aid local domestic violence prevention and victim support initiatives. Verizon Wireless is a recognized corporate leader in the fight against domestic violence, and this year alone, has donated more than $350,000 in monetary and other donations to domestic violence programs.
Eddie Rubinstein, manager of the new Arlington Heights store, will present the check to Inna Patel, children's counselor at Life Span, at the wire-cutting ceremony on November 3. Several prominent members of the Arlington Heights community will also be in attendance, including Mayor Arlene Mulder.
"On behalf of Life Span, I'd like to thank Verizon Wireless for its support and contribution to our very meaningful program and facility," said Patel. "We appreciate Verizon Wireless' generosity and welcome the company to the Arlington Heights community."
David Kendzerski, manager of the new Mount Prospect store, will present a check to Mark Parr, executive director of the Children's Advocacy Center at that store's grand opening ceremony on November 3. Members of the Mount Prospect community expected to be in attendance include Mayor Gerald "Skip" Farley and Paul Nelson, president of the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce.
"We sincerely appreciate Verizon Wireless' contribution and commitment to family violence awareness and prevention," said Parr. "Verizon Wireless brings to the community an impressive corporate stance that will help us to do more to protect victims in this area."
