IRVINE, Calif. — Verizon Wireless customers in Southern California can now use their cellular phones in Baja California, reports Nick Montes, Manager of Hispanic Marketing for Verizon Wireless. The company's new Baja roaming service allows customers to place and receive calls in major cities throughout Baja California, from Tijuana to Cabo San Lucas.
"Our customers have asked for cellular access in Baja California, so we developed a roaming agreement with a Mexico-based wireless provider to enable us to offer this service at a competitive rate of 60 cents per minute, plus long distance charges," says Montes.
"With the growing number of golf resorts, sport fishing tours, and other attractions in Baja, more and more people are traveling south of the border for weekend or vacation getaways. And of course many of our customers have family and friends living in Baja California. Now they can enjoy the convenience and safety of using their Verizon Wireless cellular phones for personal and business calls within Baja as well as to the United States. All our customers need to do is contact Customer Care for activation," he adds.
