NEW YORK, NY — Draft day aficionados usually spend an entire weekend in late April glued to their televisions waiting for the New York Giants ' latest draft pick. This year those fans can leave the house and still receive the latest Giants draft news on their Verizon Wireless two-way text messaging capable phones.

Giants fans will be able to get up-to-the-minute news directly from the Giants during the NFL Draft on Saturday, April 26, via text messaging on their Verizon Wireless handsets. The messaging service, called "Coach's Corner," was introduced last fall and lets fans sign up to receive the latest team news, scores, game-day traffic reports, game highlights and more year-round right on their wireless phones.

"We know how important it is to stay on the cutting edge for our fans," said Rusty Hawley, Giants vice president of marketing. "Coach's Corner from Verizon Wireless will allow fans up-to-the-minute information as the draft unfolds, almost as if they were at the NFL Draft. This system will also keep fans informed throughout the year as news on the Giants happens."

The team itself inputs the content for Coach's Corner alerts and sends them directly to Giants fans who sign up to receive this innovative new service only available from Verizon Wireless, the team's official wireless provider.

The alerts are delivered to phones after users sign up through Verizon Wireless' vtext.com simple-to-use short text messaging website — located through either giants.com or verizonwireless.com. Vtext.com makes it easy to send messages to individuals and groups and lets customers set up cool and useful information alerts, like Coach's Corner.

To send alerts, the Giants use the Internet and a web-based authoring tool to enter up to 160 characters of breaking news about the team and personnel, updates on game day, pre-game scouting reports, post-game comments and special offers during the season. Each alert costs two-cents to receive and fans may choose how often they want to get alerts. Fans who want the full benefits of two-way text messaging can sign up now and receive unlimited messages until June 30, 2003 for just $2.99 per month. After that, message packages are available with 100 to 600 messages a month for $2.99 to $6.99 with a one or two-year agreement.

To learn more about the Giants Coach's Corner and to sign up, visit the team's website at www.giants.com and click on the Verizon Wireless logo on the front page. More information about Verizon Wireless TXT Messaging with Info Alerts is available at any Verizon Wireless Communications Store or at www.verizonwireless.com.
