INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Verizon Wireless has activated two new cell sites in Oldenburg and Andersonville that improve coverage, enabling customers to enjoy clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.
These new cell sites improve Verizon Wireless' voice and data network in the following areas of Fayette and Franklin counties:
- In the town of Oldenburg
- Along Interstate 74 in Franklin County between Greensburg and Batesville
- Along State Road 229 between Interstate 74 and the town of Oldenburg
- In the towns of Andersonville and New Salem
- Along US-52 between Rushville and Andersonville
"We have always been committed to providing the nation's most reliable network," said Greg Haller, presidentIndiana/Kentucky/Michigan Region, Verizon Wireless. "That means improving coverage in rural communities across Indiana and the United States is equally as important to us as building out bigger cities like Indianapolis. No matter where Hoosiers travel the Crossroads of America, they will enjoy the reliable service they have come to expect from Verizon Wireless."
Reliable service is fundamental to customer loyalty, and Verizon Wireless boasts the highest customer loyalty in the industry. During the second quarter of 2005, only 1.2% of its customers disconnected their service, which is well below the industry average.
"The value we offer our customers is closely tied to our industry-leading customer retention," Haller said. "Wireless consumers today understand that value is not defined by price alone. A significant reason why our customers choose Verizon Wireless and stay with us is because we offer the nation's most reliable network."
These recent improvements in Fayette and Franklin Counties are part of Verizon Wireless' continuous effort to increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Indiana and across the country. Since its inception in 2000, the company has consistently spent more than $4 billion annually-and more than $5 billion last year-to expand and improve its network nationwide. Approximately $103 million of this investment was spent in 2004 to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in Indiana.
