Another CTIA Wireless show is in the books, as last week in New Orleans the industry gathered to address issues facing traditional wireless providers, while welcoming new faces to mobile like Pandora. The show culminated with a keynote address by former President Bill Clinton, who said wireless networks are critical to bringing people together as we get deeper into the 21st century.
Other keynotes during the week featured the CEOs of the four major wireless service providers in the United States talking about their company’s plans, followed by a rapid-fire roundtable discussion moderated by Mad Money’s Jim Cramer. These industry leaders offered their views on the future of the wireless industry and new technologies to help grow networks and please customers.
4G LTE remains a hot topic; as other carriers look to expand their own 4G LTE coverage, Verizon Wireless CEO Dan Mead was quick to clarify that “Verizon Wireless has the largest LTE network in the U.S.”For more from Tuesday’s keynote, AllThingsD.com provides details on the panel discussion.
Once again, the show served as a platform to introduce new smartphones and applications. The DROID Incredible 4G by HTC was named “best in show” and a “favorite” by Engadget.com and GottaBeMobile.com. Color for Facebook garnered a “spotlight” award from VideoMaker magazine. Color for Facebook allows people to share life’s important moments and demonstrates how bringing the power of the 4G LTE network together with innovative entrepreneurs can lead to cool apps for consumers.
Visitors to the show floor saw the latest in wireless innovations in CTIA’s Solutions Showcase. Busy all week, the Showcase highlighted a wide variety of new and non-traditional products that take advantage of advanced networks. Many of the solutions came from Verizon’s Innovation Program, demonstrating new ways to use 4G LTE and go beyond connectivity to make a real difference in people’s lives.
After a fun and productive week in New Orleans, CTIA Wireless Enterprise and Applications, the trade association’s fall show, will be in San Diego in October.
