Instead, identify cloud providers that demonstrate industry-specific security experience and cloud security certifications such as FedRamp, PCI and FIPS. With appropriate cloud security protocols in place, the cloud can be just as secure, if not more secure, than on-premises environments.

A recent article from Cloud Tweaks provides ten tips for enterprises pursuing cloud migration, along with guidance for on how to executing those recommendations. One tip recommends, “Partner with the Right Cloud Services Providers.” The author advises enterprises to fully evaluate vendor service level agreements (SLAs) and pricing models. Companies should sign up for an industry-specific service and determine if the service will be consumption-based pricing or a subscription-based pricing. After taking inventory of current and future IT needs, enterprises should then choose the model that will fit their business best.
