The Great Cloud Data Migration

Analysts estimate that only seven percent of enterprise data is in the cloud today. The situation is analogous to the early days of ad-tech, when the share of online advertising was dwarfed by traditional media channels, accounting for a tiny fraction of overall ad spend. Ad spending has now shifted meteorically to online and, now, mobile devices (something that wasn’t predicted). And so will it go for enterprise data in the cloud.

A key success factor for increased cloud adoption is the ability to stitch together “old” local content, file systems, and on-premises databases, with “new” cloud-based object stores, enterprise file sync and shares, and analytic services. To help enterprises simplify cloud adoption, Tervela is collaborating with Verizon to make Tervela's Cloud FastPath available through the recently launched Verizon Cloud Marketplace. Often the very first step is data migration, and subsequently, the creation of continuous data pipelines between the Verizon Cloud and heterogeneous external infrastructure. Tervela and Verizon will enable enterprises to effectively deploy and manage comprehensive Big Data programs.

Verizon and Tervela are making this evolution simple, by combining the Verizon Cloud with Tervela's Cloud FastPath, the industry’s first automated, cloud-based application that provides simple, fast, and secure Big Data movement. Cloud FastPath can move data up to 50 times faster than conventional means, and it seamlessly manages network interruptions and data corruptions, allowing IT teams to focus on more important tasks.

Common use cases include:

  • Cloud Analytics using on-premises structured and unstructured data
  • Big Data Programs
  • Digital Content Distribution and Disaster Recovery
  • Data Archiving for Auditing and Compliance
