MCI introduces Audioconferencing,Net Conferencing and Videoconferencing for Canadian Businesses
New Conferencing Services Use Audio, Net and Video Technology to
Facilitate Group Communications
Toronto, October 20, 2003 - MCI today launched its Audioconferencing, Net Conferencing and Videoconferencing services in Canada. These three additions, plus the recently announced Event Webcasting offering, allow Canadian businesses access to a complete suite of communication solutions.
MCI's new offerings, each with a host of specialized features, allow organizations to make faster decisions, reduce travel time and help employees balance professional and personal responsibilities.
"With significant cutbacks in corporate travel budgets, more organizations are adopting alternatives to face-to-face meetings and opting for virtual meetings as an easy, productive way to share ideas and conduct business," said Sam Mazzotta, MCI Canada director of product management. "MCI Conferencing services allow users to hold real-time meetings and online events without the expense and inconvenience of business travel".
ABOUT MCI AUDIOCONFERENCING
MCI's industry-leading Audioconferencing is a feature-rich vehicle for conference participation that enables individuals in remote locations to communicate simultaneously via telephone. A complete communications solution, MCI Audioconferencing features end to end call management, technical assistance throughout the call, a multi-vendor bridge environment, large port capacity and true global capability.
Offering a full range of services, MCI Audioconferencing also features a number of custom options, including Instant Meeting, a reservation-free conferencing solution; Subconferencing, where participants can confer privately on a separate call and then return to the main meeting; and Instant Replay Plus, a service that provides a digital copy of the meeting for an unlimited time.
MCI NET CONFERENCING
To add a visual component to conference calls, MCI has developed Net Conferencing, a service that allows users to create an engaging online experience by sharing presentations, documents or Web sites with large or small groups while they participate in an accompanying conference call.
Designed for interactive meetings, such as internal communications, investor relations calls and product rollouts, Net Conferencing allows users to demonstrate applications from their PCs, lead a group on a Web site tour, or review documents as a group - making changes online while discussing these on the phone. Throughout the conference, a Net Specialist is available to assist in troubleshooting or to conduct a conferencing Q&A session.
Other Net Conferencing tools include Net Replay, a service that records and synchronizes the data and audio portions of the presentation so that it is available to parties unable to attend the conference. And for last-minute meetings, Instant Net Conferencing service lets users create a conference within seconds - no reservation required.
MCI VIDEOCONFERENCING
MCI's Videoconferencing provides organizations with all the advantages of face-to-face communication virtually anywhere in the world. MCI's global operations centers use a single database and reservations system, providing customers with real-time confirmation capability. Features include: flexible video reservations via phone and online reservations enabled through e-Scheduling on the MCI website; bridging; point-to-point video connect; complimentary meeting managers for video calls with 10 or more sites; complimentary certification to assure that a customer's video system is ready to conduct calls over the MCI Videoconferencing network.
The launch of MCI Audioconferencing, Net Conferencing and Video conferencing services follows the recent unveiling of the company's Event Webcasting, a solution which provides a one-to-many communications vehicle by broadcasting video content to a large, geographically dispersed audience over the Internet. Attendees do not need special videoconferencing equipment to participate. Anyone with Internet access, Web browser and media player can view an Event Webcast.
