MCI Statement On Proposed Settlement With Creditor Groups

The following should be attributed to Michael D. Capellas, MCI Chairman and CEO:

"With today's proposed settlement among the various creditor groups, MCI has cleared one of the last major hurdles along its path toward emergence from Chapter 11.

The 55,000 employees of MCI have worked hard to reach this significant milestone and we are pleased to have the support of the overwhelming majority of our creditors for our Plan of Reorganization.

We are eager to move our business forward by continuing to provide our customers with innovative products and award-winning service.

Today's proposed settlement has been approved by MCI's Board of Directors and is subject to final approval by the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors which is expected later today."
