MCI Systemhouse To Update NJTRANSIT's Procurement And Financial Applications

$7.8 Million Engagement To Streamline Financial And
Materials Applications

ATLANTA, December 8, 1998 -

MCI Systemhouse, MCI WorldCom's (NASDAQ: WCOM) global
information technology services company, has signed a $7.8 million
agreement to replace New Jersey Transit Corp.'s (NJTRANSIT)
materials management, purchasing, accounts payable and general
ledger systems.

Under terms of the contract, MCI Systemhouse will implement
Oracle Financial applications and will provide a variety of imaging
software, hardware and related services for purchase orders,
contracts and invoice processing; radio frequency (RF) bar coding
software and related hardware to handle inventory functions; and
EDI technology to enable the electronic transmission of documents
to and from NJTRANSIT's vendors. The systems are scheduled to
go online next summer.

"We have to move away from our early 1980s-designed legacy
systems toward new technologies that provide state-of-the-art
functionality," said Maury Weisel, NJTRANSIT's director of
enterprise systems. "Of the five companies that responded to
our RFP, MCI Systemhouse and its partners demonstrated the best
integrated solution to satisfy our requirements."

Combining its systems integration expertise with software and
hardware from Oracle Corp., Professional Assistance and Consulting,
170 Systems Inc., BPA Systems Inc. and St. Paul Software Inc., MCI
Systemhouse is providing imaging, RF bar coding and EDI solutions
that will enable NJTRANSIT to streamline the routing of documents,
the maintenance of its inventory and the processing of massive
numbers of purchase orders and invoices.

Using outmoded keypunch technology today, invoice processing
requires extensive manual effort. MCI Systemhouse's imaging
solution, which also includes optical recognition modules,
significantly reduces that process through the use of simple
point-and-click technology.

"The bar-coding application will enable our employees to
immediately update our database," Weisel said. "We will
no longer need to manually input data or store information on
hand-held computers which require later uploading."

"The online inventory transaction processing (OLTP)
solution we're providing to NJTRANSIT illustrates how our
'Network Enterprise' strategy integrates MCI
Systemhouse's expertise with best-of-breed solutions from our
vendor partners," said John Healy, vice president and general
manager of MCI Systemhouse's State Government Solutions
Practice. "Our combined depth of experience, technical
soundness and level of commitment affords NJTRANSIT an opportunity
to transform its IT infrastructure to successfully address changing
operational requirements in the new millennium."
