The VISION* Solutions unit of MCI Systemhouse, MCI WorldCom's
(NASDAQ: WCOM) global information technology services company, today
announced its support for Oracle Spatial and Oracle8i, the database
for the Internet. MCI Systemhouse made the announcement here today.
These key Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) technologies combine with VISION*
to provide a new standard in enterprise-scale automated mapping,
facilities management, and geographic information systems (AM/FM/GIS)
solutions for telecommunications, utilities, and government
customers.
Oracle8i will form the database backbone of MCI Systemhouse's
VISION* 5.1, scheduled for release in Q1'99.

for VISION*Solutions customers - VISION* for CORBA and Oracle8i will ease and speed integration
and interoperability with legacy and ERP applications - Oracle8i's scalability and OLTP improvements provide

deployments - Extensible data type services in Oracle8i will improve
performance of the VISION* Long Transaction Cartridge and enable
functional extensions to Oracle Spatial - VISION* Object Views' support for Oracle Object Option and
the Object Cache technology in Oracle8i will provide enhanced
management, navigation, and performance of highly complex telecom
and utility data models
