MCI Wins Telemark Gold Award for 'Secure Data Transfer'

MCI recognized for 'outstanding' customer satisfaction performance

AMSTERDAM, 30 August 2005 - MCI, Inc. (NASDAQ: MCIP) today announced that it has received a Telemark Gold Award, scoring 'outstanding' for secure data transfer in the latest Telemark survey benchmarking customer satisfaction. The latest report awards only five Telemark Gold Awards in total across the 32 service attributes evaluated.

MCI took 'best-in-class' for six service attributes, along with 11 'excellent' ratings and seven 'good' performances. MCI was also one of the highest scoring operators in the categories of 'network installation,' 'pricing' and 'indispensable to customers' - a category comprising the three most important service attributes as perceived by the customer. Since Telemark's last report, MCI has the greatest number of attributes significantly improving.

MCI is 'Best-in-Class' for six service attributes; Adequate Data Throughput, Installation Not Disrupting, Installation on Schedule, Understanding Customers' Requirements, No Hidden Extras in Bills and Accurate Bills. MCI is also 'Best-in-Class' for Meeting Requirements ('stated') and Pricing ('stated' and 'combined').
