MCI WorldCom Appoints New Regional President.

HONG KONG - 15th April 1999

MCI WorldCom today announced that it has appointed Bill Barney as President, MCI WorldCom Asia Pacific.

Mr Barney was most recently Area Vice President for Asia Pacific for Global One. Prior to that post, he held various management positions in sales and marketing and international operations with AT&T.

The Company also announces that Steve Liddell has resigned from the position of President, Asia Pacific, with the intention of assuming a new appointment as of 1 May 1999. Mr Barney will assume Mr Liddell's responsibilities from today.

In Asia Pacific, MCI WorldCom has over the past three years made great strides in implementing our global strategy - to provide the highest level of quality in telecommunications services through a seamless, end to end, wholly owned global network. The company will continue to build out its network infrastructure, with undersea cables and fibre optic loops in metropolitan areas where permitted.

In Asia Pacific, MCI WorldCom has operations spanning 12 countries, serving local, regional and global customers with a full suite of Internet, data, and voice solutions.
