Networld+Interop Trade Show Business Editors
Networld+Interop
ATLANTA, Oct. 22, 1998 --
MCI WorldCom announced today that it had received the prestigious
Networld+Interop Best of Show award for its Frame Relay Internet
Gateway service announced earlier today. Two weeks ago, MCI
WorldCom's PeerMaker service for Internet Service Providers was
named Best of Show at the Internet World trade show in New York.
Frame Relay Internet Gateway, available in the U.S., empowers
businesses to increase use of the Internet for critical new
applications by leveraging the benefits of frame relay and
capitalizing on existing legacy data network investments. It is the
first security-enhanced commercial offering for companies to link
frame relay networks with the public Internet to deploy seamless
networking applications, including VPN-based intranets and
extranets.
"This award is a great illustration of the new team at MCI
WorldCom and the innovative new services that our customers can
expect," said John Scarborough, director of Virtual Data
Services. "Frame Relay Internet Gateway signals the marriage of
frame relay and the Internet and securely extends private networks
beyond corporate boundaries."
The Networld+Interop Best of Show competition recognizes the most
outstanding new products, product enhancements and product upgrades
unveiled at Networld+ Interop '98, being held in Atlanta.
Sponsored by Data Communications and LAN Times publications, the Best
of Show awards' program is one of the most highly visible and
successful programs in the telecommunications industry. Entries were
evaluated based on innovation, how product advances the art of
networking, importance of product to businesses, and how product
compares to competitive offerings of other carriers.
