MCI WorldCom Opens Asian Network Operations Center In Hong Kong

One-stop call resolution supports customers in all corners of
the globe

Clinton, MS, July 21, 1999 - MCI WorldCom today announced an
expansion and upgrade in both size and scope to its Asian network
operations and service facilities center in Hong Kong. The Asia-Pacific
World Center is now one of three MCI WorldCom master control facilities
that ensure seamless, reliable network service around the globe. The
other two centers are located in Cary, North Carolina and Amsterdam.
This expansion reflects MCI WorldCom's rapid growth in Europe and
in Asia-Pacific over the past two years, including a 7,000 mile
Pan-European network and construction of fiber-optic metropolitan
networks in Tokyo, Japan and Sydney, Australia.

The Asia-Pacific World Center ensures that the mission-critical
voice and data applications of global customers are met with one-stop
call resolution and never-fail support of the worldwide network. In the
case of network failures at either or both Cary, NC or Amsterdam, MCI
WorldCom's Asia-Pacific World Center alone could monitor the
Internet, data, and voice traffic of all MCI WorldCom's customers
throughout the world. The center provides 24X7 monitoring of over
40,000 miles of international undersea cable, U.S. and European
networks as well as the metropolitan networks in Asia-Pacific.

"MCI WorldCom customers are increasingly ensured the benefits
of one carrier, one network, and one-stop call resolution for all their
communication needs," said William Barney, President of MCI
WorldCom Asia Pacific. "The expansion of the Asia-Pacific World
Center in Hong Kong reflects the unique capacity of MCI WorldCom to
support global accounts as well as ensure the same global standards for
pan-Asian traffic on our network," added Barney.

The Asia-Pacific World Center brings together the following
functions: management, control, repair and maintenance of the
company's local, regional, and international voice and data
networks, and its connectivity to the North American, and European
networks. The center is fully self-supporting with an integrated
uninterruptible power supply, diesel generators, automatic restoration
cabling and state-of-the-art security. The center can respond within
five minutes to a transmission problem anywhere in the world using an
integrated network monitoring system that provides operators with a
single interface to all transmission and switching subsystems. MCI
WorldCom's advanced technology examines several layers of its
system to find faults and normalize the network before customers
perceive a problem.

"Our global customers demand the highest levels of
service," said Diana Day, MCI WorldCom president, customer service
and satisfaction. "The Asia-Pacific World Center in Hong Kong
surpasses expectations by providing a state-of-the-art facility for
network management, one-stop call resolution, and customized solutions
catered to meet the unique requirements of MCI WorldCom customers in
Asia-Pacific and around the world."

The Asia-Pacific World Center provides round-the-clock support in
six languages: Cantonese, English, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, and
Tagalog. The facility supports local network operation centers in
Japan, Singapore, Korea and Australia by providing additional
redundancy to local control systems. The center also offers co-location
and facilities management services for regional customers. Linked to
MCI WorldCom's two other global network operations centers in
Europe and the U.S., the Asia-Pacific World Center assures truly global
network management and unsurpassed customer support.

revenues of more than $30 billion and established operations in over 65
