MULTI-YEAR, EXPANDED STRATEGIC MARKETING ALLIANCE BETWEEN WORLDCOM AND AMERICA ONLINE OFFERS UNIQUE BENEFITS TO WORLDCOM'S RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS
ARLINGTON, Va. and DULLES, Va.-May 24, 2000 -- WorldCom
(NASDAQ: WCOM) and America Online, Inc. (NYSE: AOL) today announced a
unique multi-year consumer Internet alliance under which WorldCom will
market AOL to WorldCom's millions of residential local and long
distance telecom customers, with a bonus of up to an hour of free calls
every month when they join AOL. Also, under the agreement, WorldCom
will offer its residential ISP customers a special opportunity to
convert to the AOL service.
By delivering great savings, and joint products and services, this
consumer telecom and Internet offer provides valuable content to
current and new WorldCom residential local and long distance telecom
customers when they join AOL. It is also another step in the growing
strategic relationship between WorldCom and AOL.
In addition, under this new agreement, existing MCI WorldCom
Internet customers will be offered a special opportunity to convert to
AOL, easily becoming members of the AOL service, and will also be
eligible for additional benefits.
Effective immediately, telecom residential local and long distance
customers subscribed to any of the MCI 5¢ Everyday family of plans and
who join AOL as new members receive:
- Up to one hour of free MCI 5¢ calling each month, as long as they
remain an MCI WorldCom long distance customer and become a new AOL
member; - 500 hours of AOL free in the first month, with unlimited access
for $21.95 a month after that; and - $200 in member savings at the online AOL Store.
Benefits for Users of Other MCI WorldCom Calling Plans
All other MCI WorldCom residential customers, as well as small
business customers, can receive a total yearly credit of up to $36.00,
or up to $3 per month, on their WorldCom bill as long as they remain an
MCI WorldCom local or long distance customer and become a new AOL
member, plus 500 hours of AOL free in the first month, with unlimited
access after that, and $200 in member savings at the AOL Store.

In addition, AOL and WorldCom are developing a program to encourage
WorldCom employees to experience the benefits of AOL. Under this
program, WorldCom will offer its employees special pricing on a number
of PC options, as well as offering the AOL service as the preferred
provider.
Last month, WorldCom and America Online extended and expanded their
existing agreement for dial-up access services in the U.S. UUNET has
been a provider for AOLnet, the world's largest dial-up network,
for several years. Under the expanded relationship, UUNET will continue
to build out and manage a significant portion of AOLnet, as well as
continue to provide AOL with dial-up services on UUNET's Dial
Access Network.
