PCI Compliance: What It Is and Why It Matters

Verizon Terremark has been validated by a third party as PCI compliant for its Managed Hosting, Enterprise Cloud and vCloud Express services delivered from ten of its cloud-enabled data centers. These services were assessed to be compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), a validation that allows enterprises to process credit card transactions with the confidence of knowing the supporting infrastructure is protected at the industry-recognized standard for credit card payment security.

To obtain PCI DSS compliance validation, Verizon Terremark underwent a rigorous assessment process by a third party Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) of its underlying management infrastructure. As part of the assessment, the physical security of the facilities, technical controls, and other applicable security management processes were reviewed by the QSA. This validation provides enterprises with a PCI compliant underlying infrastructure that allows them to confidently store, process and transmit credit card information in their environments.

As a leading IT service provider, Verizon Terremark recognizes the concerns enterprises have when adopting new technologies, such as cloud computing. Maintaining PCI compliance of its underlying infrastructure is another way the Company responds to the demands of the market and shows transparency in security management, policies, and procedures.
