Today on Up To Speed: New purpose, new social responsibility platform, new volunteer program and 3 new cities live on 5G.

5G Ultra Wideband touches down in Boston, Houston, and Sioux Falls.

Verizon announced today that its Ultra Wideband 5G network is powered on in parts of Boston, Houston, and Sioux Falls. With 18 cities in total with 5G so far, Verizon’s 5G network will help the continuous growth of business, education and technology around the country.

Hans announces social responsibility platform at 2019 Leadership Forum.

“We create the networks that move the world forward.” That is the new purpose for Verizon 2.0 that Hans Vestberg announced yesterday at the 2019 November Leadership Forum. Hans also revealed a new corporate social responsibility platform that focuses on three key pillars: digital inclusion, climate protection, and human prosperity. Along with the new volunteering platform, Verizon announced a goal to have its employees collectively reach 2.5 million volunteer hours by the year 2025. “It’s all part of what we’re doing to get each and everyone in the company to feel that they are part of this journey we now have a new purpose for,” Hans said.
