UUNET, an MCI WorldCom company and a global leader in Internet communications, has signed an agreement with Computacenter to provide Internet connections and services to Computacenter's current and future customers. The deal provides UUNET with a new channel for reselling services to corporates and other large organisations in the UK and Europe, via Computacenter's strong links with the UK business sector.
Computacenter becomes the first UUNET partner able to bill clients directly for UUNET Internet services. This illustrates how Computacenter and other major VARs are maturing as providers of Internet solutions, delivering the high quality of service, high capacity and nation-wide coverage that corporate clients increasingly expect.
"Our customers will now benefit from the high resilience, speed and quality of service achievable over UUNET's established backbone. This deal provides a real value add for our customers now and into the future because of UUNET's strong focus on business connections," said Mike Davies, general manager technical services at Computacenter.
75 of the Times Top 100 companies use UUNET connections to transfer data to and from the Internet. Computacenter counts over half of the Times Top 100 as its customers.
"We will be offering important key benefits to businesses in the UK and throughout Europe. Corporates now expect a very high quality of service and this partnership will allow companies to benefit from excellent service and a wide selection of products," said Gary Lynch, UK partner sales and development manager, UUNET.
