UUNET Receives Top Honors in TeleChoice's Customer Satisfaction Survey for Second Year in a Row

FAIRFAX, Va., February 9, 1999 --- UUNET, an MCI WorldCom Company and a global leader in Internet communications solutions, today announced that it was rated the highest in overall customer satisfaction in a survey of Interactive Week readers conducted by TeleChoice, Inc, a telecommunications and Internet technologies consultancy based in Verona, N.J. This marks the second year in a row that UUNET has topped the overall ratings in the survey. In addition to receiving the highest overall rating, UUNET was awarded the highest ratings in the two areas that respondents identified as the most important to their business -- connection availability and network performance. UUNET also received the highest rating for its speed and diagnosis of repair and had the second highest rating for its service level agreements.

The TeleChoice ISP survey of Interactive Week readers is the only study in the industry based solely on the responses of actual ISP business customers. Survey results were tabulated from nearly 1,000 completed questionnaires. Respondents were asked which service criteria were most important and then rated their ISP from 1 to 5 in each of the areas surveyed. All of the respondents are customers of at least one of several Internet Service Providers. The ISPs included in the final ratings were America Online, AT&T WorldNet, CompuServe Interactive Services, EarthLink Network, GTE Internetworking, IBM Global Network, MCI (a service now owned by Cable & Wireless PLC), Netcom On-Line Communications Services, PSINet, Sprint, and UUNET Technologies, Inc.

"There is no greater testimonial to a company's product or service than the highest ratings from its customers," said Mark Spagnolo, president and chief executive officer of UUNET. "We strive to ensure that UUNET customers are given the best service possible on our network. This survey proves that we are succeeding."

Highlights of the survey were published in the January 25 issue of Interactive Week. The full survey can be purchased from TeleChoice, Inc.
