WorldCom Announces Appointment of Ronald Beaumont and Wayne Huyard as Chief Operating Officers of New Operating Units

CLINTON, Miss., December 11, 2000 - To advance its plans to
separate the Company into two distinct businesses, WorldCom, Inc.
(NASDAQ: WCOM) announced today the appointment of Ronald Beaumont, 52,
as chief operating officer of its new WorldCom business and Wayne
Huyard, 41, as chief operating officer of the planned MCI business that
will be traded on the NASDAQ exchange under the ticker symbol
"MCIT".

"Our new structure requires that WorldCom and MCI, two
distinctly different businesses in very different segments in the
industry, have leadership teams dedicated to achieving results and
building value for our shareholders," said Bernard J. Ebbers,
president and CEO. "Both Ron and Wayne bring to their respective
positions the knowledge, depth of experience, and leadership talent to
drive the Company to new heights."

Under the new operating leadership, Ronald Beaumont will be
responsible for such core WorldCom business functions as sales,
marketing, operations and technology for the data, Internet and
international divisions. Wayne Huyard will be responsible for the
consumer, small business and wholesale long-distance voice businesses,
and dial-up Internet access services.

As 14-year WorldCom veteran, Ronald Beaumont has played an integral
role in building WorldCom's high-capacity broadband network which spans
47,000 U.S. domestic long-distance miles, 9,000 U.S. domestic local
miles in more than 100 metropolitan areas, 9,000 local and
long-distance miles in Europe and capacity on numerous undersea cables.
Additionally, he has spearheaded WorldCom's network development
throughout the Pacific Rim in major financial centers. Previously, he
served as the president and CEO of WorldCom's Operations and Technology
unit, leading a worldwide organization comprised of more than 30,000
employees dedicated to the technology, planning, engineering,
operations and customer service needs of the Company.

Previously, Mr. Beaumont served as president and chief executive
officer of MFS North America, Inc.; president and chief executive
officer of MFS Telecom; and president of MFS' Southern Division. He has
also served as executive vice-president of Institutional Communications
Corporation in Washington, D.C. - later acquired by MFS-and vice
president of CONTEL Corporation's Government Systems Divisions and
International Systems Integration subsidiary. Beaumont has more than 30
years of communications industry experience.

Mr. Beaumont earned a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and a master's degree in
Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in Palo Alto,
California.

As a 17-year MCI veteran, Wayne Huyard has most recently served as
President of WorldCom's MCI Mass Markets division, a role he has
held since 1995. During his tenure, he has achieved industry-leading
consumer market share growth and was a force behind some of MCI's most
successful products including Friends & Family, 1-800-COLLECT,
10-10-220 and 5 Cent Sundays. A key architect in the construction of
the MCI Mass Markets division, Huyard is credited with building the
largest consumer sales organization in the industry.

Huyard has also served as both the Vice-President of Marketing and
Vice-President of Sales for MCI Mass Markets. Previously, he led sales
and marketing organizations in MCI's Western Division where he is
credited with opening both the Seattle and Colorado Springs markets.
Mr. Huyard received his bachelor's degree in business administration
from Elizabethtown College.

Both chief operating officers will report directly to WorldCom, Inc.
president and CEO, Bernard J. Ebbers.
