WorldCom IP Network Operating Normally

CLINTON, Miss., October 3, 2002 - The following statement should be attributed to Jennifer Baker, WorldCom spokesperson:

"Today WorldCom experienced an issue on its IP network, affecting approximately 20 percent of our U.S. IP customer base. Service to our customers has been restored. A preliminary investigation indicates there was a route table issue. We will continue to monitor the network, and we apologize to our customers who were affected."
