Singapore, 21 June 2001 - WorldCom (NASDAQ: WCOM) today opened its eighth International Data Center (IDC) in the Asia Pacific region with the commissioning of a new IDC in Singapore. WorldCom Senior Vice President & Chief Technology Officer Fred Briggs, WorldCom Asia Pacific President William Barney and Mr. Chay Wai Chuen, Chairman of Government Parliamentary Committee for Communications and IT, presided at the opening ceremonies.

The Singapore IDC offers business customers colocation as well as access to WorldCom's industry leading IP backbone network. Direct access to the network provides customers high bandwidth availability for maximum performance and rapid scalability.

Mr. Chay Wai Chuen, Chairman Government Parliamentary Committee for Communications and IT said, "International data centers are essential to deliver secure, reliable infrastructure for hosting companies' data. The state-of-the-art 34,000 square foot facility is fully equipped with sophisticated security, fire and earthquake protection, and back-up power generation systems. WorldCom's other IDC facilities in the Asia Pacific region are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Osaka, and three centers in Tokyo.
