Providian Financial Selects WorldCom as Web Hosting Provider

CLINTON, Miss, August 14, 2001--WorldCom (NASDAQ: WCOM), the

million customers, has selected WorldCom to provide custom Web hosting
services for Providian's corporate Web site.
