MCI WorldCom Contributes To Child Education In Central America

Teams with National Governments Throughout Region to Donate
School Supplies

CLINTON, Miss. - August 4, 1999 - At ceremonies hosted by the
First Ladies of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador and Nicaragua's
Minister of Education, MCI WorldCom donated a total of 100,000 school
supply kits to Central American governments, which in turn will
distribute them to low-income children attending public schools
throughout those countries.

MCI WorldCom's donations in Central America are part of a
region-wide goodwill initiative to promote education in conjunction
with national governments.

The ceremonies in each respective country were hosted by Mrs. Mary
Flakes-Flores, First Lady of Honduras; Mrs. Patricia de Arzu,
Guatemala's First Lady, who presides over the Department of Social
Work; Mrs. Lourdes Rodríguez de Flores, El Salvador's First Lady;
and Mr. Antonio Alvarado, Nicaragua's Minister of Education.
