MCI WorldCom today purchased a two-thirds stake in Proceda Technology,
one of Brazil's leading computer services providers. SHL
Systemhouse Inc., a subsidiary of MCI WorldCom, acquired the other
one-third interest in 1996.
MCI WorldCom purchased its stake from Partech, the holding company
owned by Equifax, Andrade Gutierrez and SOCMA Americana, to accelerate
Proceda's future IT strategy and growth.
Proceda has been striking a record number of customer contract wins
lately with the most recent being Petros, the pension fund management
company of Petrobras, the Brazilian oil and gas conglomerate, for over
R$8.5 million. Proceda also recently negotiated a new 5 year contract
with UNNISA, a large credit card processing company, worth in excess of
R$100M.
Proceda is one of the leading Information Technology companies in
Brazil, with annual revenues of more than R$70 million. The
