How to use Family Line (2:42)
Your Verizon Family Plus subscription now includes a shared secondary phone line with room for up to 5 family members.
With Family Line, your family can make and receive calls at the same time, seamlessly join ongoing conversations, and easily share call history and voicemails.
Let's take a look at how to get everything set up.
Open the Verizon Family app.
From the bottom of your screen, tap Chat/Call.
Follow the on-screen prompts to set up Family Line.
Just so you know, additional surcharges and fees will apply when you opt in for Family Line.
Review and agree to the terms.
Next, allow notifications, contact sharing, microphone access and enable long-term sign in.
As the activating Guardian, you'll need to add a default 911 address. This is the location shared with 911 dispatchers in case of an emergency.
Your Family Line will now activate. We'll let you know when it's ready.
Once activated, you'll see your new Family Line number.
Now, let's bring your family on board. You can invite up to 4 other Verizon Family members to share the line. Just select their names and tap Send Invite.
They'll receive a notification to join and complete a quick set up in their own Verizon Family app.
Now you're ready to start using your Family Line.
From the bottom of your screen, tap Chat/call.
On the Family Line homepage, you'll see your family's call history front and center.
To make a call, just tap the phone icon. Enter a number or choose a contact and hit Dial.
Everyone in the family will get an alert to join the call, so no one misses out.
Answering calls is easy. If you're not in the Verizon Family app when a call comes in, it will display like a normal incoming call. If you're in the app, a banner will be displayed across the screen.
You can manage up to 3 active calls at once from the banner dropdown, join new or ongoing calls, switch between them, place a call on hold or end it.
Now let's set up your shared voicemail.
From the Family Line screen, tap the Voicemail tab, then select Set up voicemail.
Voice prompts will guide you through creating a PIN and recording a greeting for the whole family.
Once complete, your family's voicemails will show up here.
Manage your Family Line at any time.
To make changes, just select the Settings icon.
From here you can manage members, change your voicemail greeting and edit your 911 address.
And that's it.
