How to use Safe Walk with your kid (1:50)
When they need an extra layer of security, Safe Walk provides emergency contacts with real-time location updates.
If they're feeling unsafe during a Safe Walk session, they can alert emergency contacts.
Let's take a look at how to get started.
At least 1 emergency contact is required to use Safe Walk.
Parents can manage emergency contacts from the Family Profiles screen.
Scroll to the Settings & controls for your kid and then tap on Manage contacts.
Next, tap Emergency contacts.
As the primary parent and account owner, you should already be assigned as an emergency contact.
On your kid's phone, open the Verizon Family app.
From the home screen, tap on Safe Walk.
If this is the first time using Safe Walk, let them review their emergency contacts and practice.
Now that Safe Walk is set up, your kid is ready to use it.
Maybe they're feeling anxious while walking home from school alone.
From the home screen, they'll tap the Safe Walk button to notify emergency contacts that they’re on the move.
All emergency contacts will get a notification that a Safe Walk session is in progress and can follow the journey in real time.
Your kid can clearly see who is viewing their location and quickly call a contact.
If they feel unsafe, they can use the slider to send you an alert.
Sending an alert to emergency contacts will not dispatch emergency services. If needed, call 911.
As an emergency contact, you'll be alerted. You can quickly get driving directions to their current location or give them a call.
