Verizon Smart Family: Driver Safety & Crash Detection Overview (2:26)
With Verizon Smart Family Premium, get insight into your childrens' driving, plus crash detection.
Peace of mind for you. Freedom for them.
Whether they're driving or riding, you can find out when your child is on the move and get trip details about risky driving behavior - like speeding, rapid acceleration, sudden braking, sharp turns, and even phone usage while driving.
We detect driving behaviors based on the phone's motion sensors, so you can see how your teen driver or younger child is doing whether they're behind the wheel, riding with a bus driver or grabbing a lift from friends when they have their phone with them.
And with crash detection, you'll be notified of any unexpected accidents.
If a potential crash is detected, you'll receive a notification with your child's current location.
Give them a call to see what happened and navigate right to their location through the Smart Family app.
Whether there was a crash or not, we make it easy to stay in contact. Your child can call to let you know there was a crash and call 911.*
...Or let you know that there actually wasn't a crash so your stress level goes back to normal.
After every trip, you'll get a driving report.
On the Trip Details page, you'll see a map with the path they traveled. See when and where anything happened along the way.
Below the map, you'll find their top speed along with how many times a flagged event happened during that trip.
For each trip, you'll want to choose whether your child was a driver or passenger, so their driving scores are only impacted by their own driving habits.
For kids that don't drive yet, you can change the default role in their profile Settings by tapping the Driving menu. Enable the switch if they're usually a passenger and you’ll get a "riding only" report instead of a driving score.
Want the bigger picture? View a weekly report of recent trips.
Next to their weekly driving score, you'll see the total number of trips and miles travelled. Plus, you'll get their top speed for the week and how many times Trip Events occurred.
It's a good idea for your child's phone to be plugged in while driving so all the Smart Family features stay up and running.**
If they forget, don't worry. You'll get notified if their battery is low and can remind them to charge it up.
