Activity at Churchill Downs is picking up this week as horses are shipped to the backside for Derby week and spring meet races. Exercise rider Javier Gavier takes Flattering Touch out to the track for a 1 1/4 mile workout at Churchill Downs on Wednesday morning. The five-year-old filly, who won at Oaklawn on March 18, is owned by St. Louis Racing and trained by Tim and Natalie Glyshaw, of Tim Glyshaw Racing Stables.

Later that morning, Gavier takes a second horse, three-year-old filly Solana Beach, owned by Deann Baer, to the starting gate for some practice. This was only the third time Solana Beach had been to the gate, which is operated by official Churchill Downs starter Scott Jordan.
