TULSA, Okla. (January 30, 1995)-- WilTel, a wholly owned subsidiary of LDDS Communications, has signed an agreement to provide the first public frame relay network in Mexico. The contract between WilTel and Intersys will provide international connectivity for Mexican businesses.

Within the past 12 months, WilTel has aggressively expanded its WilPak frame relay service to key financial centers in Europe, Asia and Canada, offered direct dial telecommunications service to Cuba and provided private line service to more than 40 countries worldwide. With the new agreement, WilTel is looking toward Mexico to continue expanding telecommunications solutions for businesses in that region and to support increased trade and commercial market expansion throughout North America. Intersys is a Mexico City-based systems integration company with additional offices in Monterrey and Guadalajara.

The agreement will allow Intersys to interconnect their customers' high speed frame relay data traffic with WilTel's WilPak frame relay network at a border crossing along the U.S.-Mexico border. WilTel will receive traffic on its WilPak network and carry the data to cities throughout the United States and abroad. This will be the first public frame relay service offering available to end users in Mexico. "We are pleased that Intersys has selected WilTel to be its service provider in the United States and to other locations outside Mexico where WilTel is authorized to offer such telecommunications services," said Rick Gibbens, director of WilTel International. "WilTel is the leader in data communications, and we work closely with our customers to provide cost-effective solutions." He added look forward to providing Mexican corporations high speed data access the rest of world. Intersys also has several customers seeking immediate connectivity into United States and Canada.

We expect see this trend increase significantly as companies reposition their businesses become more globally competitive. Mexican businesses will be able to send their frame relay data onto the WilTel network beginning in early February.
