Spring has sprung, which means that the Major League Baseball season has begun and the National Hockey League season is winding down.

Regional sports channel Root Sports Pittsburgh, (channel 76 SD, channel 576 HD in FiOS TV’s Pittsburgh market), which airs Pittsburgh Pirates baseball games and Pittsburgh Penguins hockey games, sometimes runs into conflicts in the spring when both teams play games at the same time.

As the division-leading Penguins prepare for their Stanley Cup playoff run, Root Sports Pittsburgh will air the team’s final few games over the next two weeks.  But all it not lost for die-hard Pirates fans.

MLB Network (channel 86 SD, channel 586 HD on FiOS TV) will broadcast four upcoming Pirates games that won’t air on Root Sports Pittsburgh due to scheduling conflicts with hockey.  The games include:

  • St. Louis Cardinals at Pirates , April 17at 7:00 p.m. ET
  • Atlanta Braves at Pirates, April 19 at 7:00 p.m. ET
  • Atlanta Braves at Pirates , April 20 at 7:00 p.m. ET
  • Pirates at Philadelphia Phillies , April 22 at 7:00 p.m. ET

Can’t decide which game to watch?  With the Pens on Root Sports Pittsburgh and the Bucs on MLB Network, FiOS TV customers in the Pittsburgh area can switch back and forth between the games, rewind, or record the games for later and never miss a minute of the action.
