NEW YORK - With the average price of a movie ticket now more than $7, film lovers are looking for a more affordable way to enjoy the latest Hollywood hits.  Verizon FiOS TV has the answer with a May promotion that offers subscribers three recent box office hits - "Marley and Me," "Doubt" and "Frost/Nixon" - on the company's video-on-demand (VOD) service for just $2.99 each.  Each film is available with the stunning picture-and-sound quality that only all-digital, all-fiber-optic FiOS TV delivers.

"Verizon FiOS TV is offering a way to save even more on movie nights at home," said Shawn Strickland, vice president of video solutions for Verizon.  "Our video on demand is always a bargain compared with going to the movie theater, and these days, families are looking for ways to cut out expenses without cutting down on their fun."

The FiOS TV VOD library offers more than 1,000 movies a month at bargain matinee prices - and with picture and Dolby-sound quality that rivals a theatre experience.

According to a recent national survey commissioned by Verizon, 57 percent of those who participated said that they plan to spend more time at home turning to their television instead of events outside the home.  Verizon's FiOS TV service offers these consumers a way to stretch their entertainment dollars while increasing their entertainment options.

FiOS TV allows consumers to select movies and more from an industry-leading VOD library with more than 14,000 titles each month, 70 percent of which are free.  Subscribers get instant access to the best new movies, many in HD.  They can order favorite movies from the VOD library at any time, without the hassle of mail or in-store returns.

In addition, customers never have to pay extra to get the hundreds of VOD titles offered by subscribing to HBO, Cinemax or the FiOS TV Movie Package, which includes more than 40 channels from Showtime, Starz, The Movie Channel, Encore, Sundance Channel and IFC.  Customers who subscribe to all three programming options could get up to 1,450 hours of free VOD programming each month.

FiOS TV offers a broad collection of programming, with 500 all-digital channels, including more than 100 HD channels.  FiOS TV's innovative Interactive Media Guide provides next-generation, personalized interactive services, including news and entertainment widgets, fantasy football applications, casual games, and many other features.  FiOS TV is currently available to more than 9.7 million homes in 14 states.
