NEW YORK - With just a click of their TV remote controls, Fantasy Football fanatics can now quickly access their players and teams, as Verizon introduces a new Fantasy Football widget to its FiOS TV customers.

The new widget provides instant on-screen access to personalized ESPN Fantasy Football points and football statistics, including rosters, box scores, scoring leaders and player information.  All the information is available, at no additional charge, for FiOS TV customers who are registered ESPN Fantasy Football players.

"FiOS TV gives fantasy football fans an experience they can't get from cable or satellite," said Shawn Strickland, vice president, marketing for Verizon Telecom.  "We're offering one-touch access to up-to-the-minute, real-time scores and statistics that fantasy team enthusiasts crave.  Our statistics are continually updated so fantasy players always know where their team stands.  All of this makes FiOS TV and ESPN Fantasy Football a must-have game-day combination."

Added David Preschlack, executive vice president, affiliate sales and marketing, Disney and ESPN Media Networks, "This Verizon application is an example of how we can work with our affiliates to serve the needs of our fans, on all screens.  Fantasy players are passionate about their teams, and we're glad to be able to provide them a more robust fantasy experience."

The FiOS TV ESPN Fantasy Football application allows users to access real-time scores and statistics from their ESPN.com fantasy teams through five different features:

  • My Match Up - tracks total fantasy points for a user's weekly matchup, including individual player fantasy points.
  • Box Score - calculates total fantasy points for a user's team and that week's opponent.
  • Roster - indicates a user's individual player game starts, such as "B. Farve/NYJ@MIAMI 1 p.m."
  • Player Cards - offers player photos, statistics and the user's points for the day and season, along with player news.
  • Scoring Leaders - keeps track of the top 50 fantasy players.

Only Verizon delivers all-digital TV service over a major network that's all-fiber all the way to customers' homes.  For customers, that means receiving 100 percent digital quality on every channel, incredible standard-definition and high-definition picture quality, more and more HD programming, and innovative interactive features like the new fantasy football application.

"The immense two-way capacity of our fiber network allows us to continually introduce interactive capabilities that give our customers richer, more robust and personalized entertainment experiences," said Strickland.

The new ESPN Fantasy Football application is now available to FiOS TV customers in California, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and the Harrisburg and southeastern Pennsylvania areas.
