You may not have time to play with the scores of great new smartphones, tablets, smart accessories and other cool devices from Verizon Wireless – but plenty of Indiana bloggers have done the work for you! Here’s what some of our Hoosier bloggers had to share for their Verizon picks of the year – just in time for the holiday season. In case you want to connect or follow their Verizon Wireless device and accessory reviews, we included links to their social media channels.

Randy McKee, Gadget Nerdly

With its large and beautiful display, state-of-the-art quad-core processor, impressive camera, innovative and useful features and terrific battery life, the LG G2 is a smartphone that manages to satisfy in every category. It not only met, but exceeded my expectations and is my pick for the best Verizon Wireless device of 2013.

Is it just me, or has this year flown by in the blink of an eye? When I look back on all my Verizon device reviews for 2013, there were several that I was really sad to send back after the review was completed. First of all, I'm an Android fan, so it won't be a surprise that my top two favorite Verizon devices are Android devices. The runner up for my top favorite for 2013 is the Motorola Droid Maxx. This summer I had the opportunity to test the Motorola Moto X, Motorola Droid Ultra and the Motorola Droid Maxx all at the same time. It was a tough job, but someone had to do it!

In this group of three, the Droid Maxx won the prize as my favorite. You can't beat its battery life and fast processor. I also really liked the Active Display feature that shows the clock and notifications on screen when you move the phone or when certain notifications come in, like a new email.

My top favorite Verizon device for 2013 would have to be the Samsung Galaxy S4. Although I wasn't blown away by the hardware updates between it and the previous model, the S3, it's still the phone I'd upgrade to right now if my S3 bit the dust. It's also the phone I recommend when others ask me which Android smartphone they should buy. I continue to prefer Samsung phones because they offer a microSD slot and a physical home button.

My favorite Verizon device might surprise you, mainly because it's not the typical smartphone or tablet I'm accustomed to reviewing. It's the Vehicle Diagnostics by Delphi, a device that plugs into your car and lets you monitor the "health" of your car at any time. But that's not what I liked most about the device. The Vehicle Diagnostics by Delphi also allows you to monitor the location of your car, as well as set up alerts when a specified speed or RPM threshold is exceeded or when the car travels outside a pre-defined radius. Parents with teenagers, are you listening?

My pick for the year would have to be the Fitbit. I am totally lost without it. As someone who spends a great deal of time online for work and for pleasure, my Fitbit reminds me to get moving and calls me out on my inactivity. It is hands down my favorite weight loss tool, and I'm not just saying that because I'm fighting with my elliptical that stands there collecting dust in judgment of me every day!
